    Re: Toledo Bend reports (Bassblazen)

I was at the Bend this weekend. Friday was very rough and did not fish but Saturday was fantastic. The lake is still very low right now. It is much lower than I have ever seen it but I think it is safe to travel in the boat lanes. As for the fishing, We had a great day fishing Saturday and for about 3 hours Sunday morning. We caught a bunch of keepers and including a 5lb, 4.5lb, and 3lb. All released to be caught again. I did keep some of the 14 inchers though. I was suprised how clear the water was given it is on the rise.
I plan on making another trip next month.

    Re: Toledo Bend reports (Chad)

Launched out of Six Mile on the Texas side, motor wouldn't start so I trolled around for a few hours, managed four keeper bass and two small ones. Used a Bomber Fat A in Chartruese and black, put the boat in the creek channel and run the creek edge bumping timber as I went, water temp 52 degree with some fog on the water. Water is stained with about 2 feet of visibility and that was back in the rear of most coves as I never got out into the main lake. Lots of grass, most right under the surface, warmest water temp was 58 in the afternoon. Good crappie bite on 2" chartruese grubs, 14-16 feet worked as I brought home a few slabs. Water level is holding at 165' msl no problems with Six Mile ramp. Carrice Creek ramp is useable, Alpine Marine has just completed their ramp and they are open and have gas on the water, Pendelton Bridge marina on the Texas side is operational. Come on out to Toledo Bend, there has been like zero fishing pressure on this lake, three boats at the ramp today in Six Mile.

    Re: Toledo Bend reports (Ratltrap)

    Thanks for the updates fellas.

Robert and I went out last Monday, and HE managed a few nice keepers and broke one off as well.
Mostly in the shallow grass at the mouth of 6-mile throwing spinnerbaits.

The water has cooled off considerably in the last week, it was mid 60's on Monday.

    Re: Toledo Bend reports (FLIPPINB)

Went out today for about 4 hours this afternoon, water level is about 169' which is the highest water we have had for over two years, normal pool is 172' so we are gaining on it quickly. I fished the Six Mile area out to the main lake, water temps main lake 48 to 49 degree back of some of the north coves were 53 to 55 degree, water was muddy to badly stained everywhere. Visibility was zero to 2 feet depending on how far out to the main lake you went. Hydrilla everywhere from 16 foot to 4 foot, then from 4 foot up to the shore is a lot of newly flooded shore grass. I caught most of my six fish on red Rat-L-Traps 1/2 ounce #SY8 model by ticking and ripping the grass in the 4-6 foot range, just about the area where the hydrilla stopped and the shoreline grass started. In some places there was a 5 to 10 foot line between the grasses and this is going to be a great place for the big girls to stage up before moving to the shallows. Biggest fish was about 2 pounds with 3 over 14" and the rest smaller buck bass. We still have more run off in the area creeks and there is some more new water coming down the Sabine River that is just making it into the headwaters of the lake so the lake might come up a few more inches if the SRA's don't generate anymore power. I actually pulled out the flippin stick and put on a blue/black jig and flipped some outside bushes, with about 2 foot of water on some of the bushes once the water temp comes up it should be like the Toledo Bend of old. All boat ramps are open, boat lanes are tricky to run as not all bouys are in place, so you might go a quarter mile until you see the next one. It should be a great spring to fish here on Toledo Bend unless they drop the bottom out of her again.

    Re: Toledo Bend reports (Bassblazen)

Made it out for a few hours today, took a lot of pictures with the lake level at 171.75 as I want to do a slide show presentation showing the areas of the lake at 162' versus 172" for all the local Texas politicians. Anyway water temps were cold, warmest water was 51 degree and colest was 47 degree, caught two nice keepers, one about 3 1/2 and the other about 2 pounds on a white chartruese spinnerbait inabout 2 foot of water in the back of one of the warmest creek arms I could find. We had about another inch of rain last night so it's going to continue to rise some more, it is going to be a fantastic spring, I posted two pictures in the lounge, if your intrested. All my fishing was done south of the Hwy. 21 bridge off the Carrice Creek boat lane.

I've seen the two picuters in the lounge. I would like to see the slide show that you are making. If possible could you post it here or have link or something showing them? Thanks

Re: Toledo Bend reports (fishin couillon)

It's going to take me about a week to find some time to put it together I am looking at about 140 photo's. I'll let you know when I can find a site to post it to. Oh and by the way the lake hit full pool today at 172', come on warmer weather.
