    Re: Bayou Black Reports (KLSU)

I've been working their for the past 2 years, but mostly deal with saltwater species. I'm about two years from completing my B.S. of Fisheries so maybe I'll get to revive the area in the future. I haven't heard much from the inland guys lately except sampling and such. The operation jump start that they started, to take fish from tourneys in the spillway and bring them to other areas of the state for brude stock replacement, has probably just removed many of the remaining fish from the area while allowing more areas for gar, redfish, and such. I wonder if the crawfish crop will hold up down their this season. I love me some bass fishing to, but I guess us south Louisiana boys will have to start migrating our fishing trips to Red River, False, Bruin, Concordia, Saline, and whatever other water bodies they have up their. At least in a closed lake system we have piece of mind that the fish can't leave out of the lake like these dang tidal areas.
    Thank God its hunting season.

The fish are finally starting to bite again in Bayou Black.

Go to the back of the canals and, throw a spinnerbait!

Not in Raceland Bass, I'm in Lafourche Green Trout. Our 1st tournament of our new season is 1st weekend in January in Bayou Black. I haven't fished Bayou Black since August and it was pretty tough.

    Re: Bayou Black Reports (joeyd190)

My buddy caught some fish off of Turtle Bayou pipeline. He was throwing a white spinnerbait around the back coves in the canals. That was last weekend when the weather was hot, but there is a cold front coming this weekend and I'm sure they'll be locked up again.

Shoot me some IM's when it gets closer and I'll let you know if I heard anything else.

Try working the points on the intercoastal where the clearer waters mix and use a med diving crankbait worked slow and steady. my last trip was pretty good 2 hours 15 bass 1-3 lbs. around the 12th.

    Dammit. I forgot about that.

I am supposed to leave to go offshore Saturday, but if I don't, I'll be there.

If I had to guess, I would say around 50-60. I think there were aroud 60 last year.
