Recovering burn victim. Please be carefull
Fished Kinkaid 10/4/14. Post cold front conditions. Low in the morning was 39 up to 55 in the afternoon. Wind wnw 15-25mph.THe water temp was about 70 degrees, it dropped 4 degrees over night. The bite was slow till about 10am. Prior to the cold front fish were still being caught in summer patterns. Some teams reported catching fish in the grass. We caught the majority of our fish in the staind water using jigs and spinnerbaits, around wood with grass and deeper water close by. We ended up catching two 3lb fish and several that were just short of the 16" limit. Overall, it wasn't a bad day. I think we wasted too much time fishing patterns that produced before the front came through. Most teams as well as my team caught all keepers in a 1-2 hr period.
Fished Kinkaid 3/2/18. It was 35 degrees at 7:30 when we hit the water, water temp was about 45 degrees in main part of lake. Water was about a foot or two high, clear in main lake, but very muddy up the Johnson creek arm. Water temp by noon was 50 degrees in the shallows. Big fish were still holding close to cover in 10-15 foot of water, couldn't be enticed to strike. A couple of dinks were biting in the 3-4 foot depth range in the afternoon when the sun was high in the clear part of the lake.
