official report:
LAKE OCONEE SUCKS!!!!
Oconee has never sucked! Your just not a true bass fishermen!
Actually Oconee sucked that weekend. I talked to plenty of other fisherman (locals) that didn't do well there. Now smarta** I challenge you to bring yourself down here and fish the river we fish. If you are calling yourself a true fisherman and me not one, you should be able to come down here and beat me. I'll put up a $100
I would also like to see how these lake fisherman could handle a rough day on the river myself.
OOOHHH Billy can I take you up on that offer????? We each get to choose five baits out of each others boats and that is all we can fish with. I think I know which bait i will take from your box
Jay - anytime!!! I'll be sure to cull through my boxes before I let you pick 5. But not a problem. I'm game. So, when did you say you were gonna make the 5+ hour drive back here??
How bout you come up to oconee next week and take me up on a $100 best 5?? Just so you know, river fishin is no stranger to me. Just dont crap on Oconee cause of one bad weekend. There are plenty of bass in that lake, I assure you. There is a book on how to catch largemouth Bass at Lake Oconee, maybe you and your buddies should buy you a copy before returning there, just kiddin man, all in good fun!! Man you think its bad now, what till the water temp dips in the low 40's. Then yeah, Id probally say Oconee sucks too. Bass are like women, they got a big mouth, always moody, and are some of the most picky eaters. No hard feelings man!!
Did UTFisherman say he caught a spot at Oconee???
I've fished Oconee a total of 4 times now and have never been able to catch fish consistently. I caught one keeper on Friday practice that went 2 1/2 lbs. On sat I caught 4 13 1/2 lm and I would put money on 2 spots that were under 12. On Sunday I had another spot. I think there are getting to be hybrid spot/largemouths in some lakes including Oconee. Now as far as the book goes, I have a copy at home that I have read and it was way off this year. Now I ain't gonna say that Batson don't know what hes talking about because I KNOW hes a great fisherman. That book however covers normal seasonal patterns and this year hasn't been normal. Hey, I tell you what I will come to Oconee and put up the $100. Then you gotta come to Savannah and fish double or nothing!!
Ive fished Oconee since 1985 and have never caught nor seen a spotted bass caught on Lake (Plenty of Fish) Oconee or Lake Sinclair. Jackson has them, but not the Oconee River.
I wonder what the reason is for not stocking spots in Oconee or Sinclair?
I am going to the Berry's Bass Tournament on Dec. 2nd at Sinclair (Little River). You should come and get in on some Lake Fishin. Ought to be a good NOT warm day!
Anybody know what's going on at Oconee. I'm gonna try to make it there this weekend. Thanks.
Sorry - haven't been there since november. I can tell you I royally stunk it up while I was there though!! 2 days I only had 1 good fish and it was over 5. Jumped off on me. Horny toad around docks.. Good luck!!
Slow and Low!! Should be decent in the afternoons in some of the clear water. Try some crickets under the bridges, probally catch some brimps.
Any info on how it has been up there? I am headed up there for the BASS Weekend Series Tournament on March 11th and would like to hear how it has been up there. Anyone else fishing that tournament? This will be my first BASS weekend series event. Curious to see how it is run with ABA running the show now.
I'll be there Saturday and I might try and sign up for the tournament at the meeting.
