12 pound trout

We're camping this week in Helen, GA in our fifth wheel trailer. I was looking at the local cable television channel, and there was a lady on there talking about her private fishing resort on the Soque River in Habersham County--outside of Clarksville, GA.

Abby Jackson grew up in the area, graduated college and took a job selling securities in New York City. She was very successful, and left New York--paying a record cost for land on a trout stream in NE Georgia.

Abby started Blackhawk Fly Fishing in 1996, and it wasn't long until the high level bankers she couldn't get into see in NYC were wanting to come to her office in Georgia--to fly fish. They've been known to fly in their Learjets for one day corporate outings. The business has grown and they show to have 9 river guides presently.

The fish on the Soque River are in the 3 to 12 lb. class, and it's catch and release. We often go to Mark The Potter on the same river, and he has hundreds of trout below his mill--over 10 lbs. each.

Trout fish Colorado when growing up, but never have in GA.. just recently they made trout fishing yr round, instead of seasonal . But I'm 23 miles from Bass, and be like 65+ miles for Trout. Grassy Mt . area has some trout on Jacks River.. but long winding dirt Mt roads to get in area
