Jig fishing? Tube Fishing? Here is something that will benefit you exponentially

Guys, I chase brown fish all over W.V. , Tennessee, and Kentucky. I fish a TON of jigs and tubes to mimic crawfish. Here is a link that has crawfish colors, locations and even size in some instances. Enjoy and catch one for me!

Click on the state that you are fishing in and then it will list them for you in hyperlinks.

Crawdads tend to mirror the surrounding colors. In grass they'll be more like dark green pumpkin to watermelon. In clay banks - they'll be more red/brown/orange. It could be those are the best matching colors to their surroundings. If you can't find - you can buy bare jigheads and use smoke skirt colors to finish the jigs. Chances are the folks at fishingskirts.com or barlows will have skirt materials that will get very, very close.

Interesting link. I like to turn over rocks at the ramp and see if I can find some to check the colors, but that aint always possible.

As time has gone on I have narrowed my choices down to just a few colors. I honestly think 90% of the time you could get away with 4 colors or so.

Exclamation My personal favorite micro jig

One interesting way I have found to mimic crayfish is a micro jig. I prefer the Tungsten finesse jig called "The Snak" from Onida Outdoors. I can put a link to it below... It is essentially a jig that is the size of a Ned rig that you put a new rig sized trailer on the back of. It comes through cover great and I can feel the bottom with it in up to 15ft, even though its only 1/4oz. Give it a look!
