new to lowrance so probably a dumb question

Hi setting up new HDS live units on my boat and while cycling through screens found that while out of the water in the driveway both downscan and side scan say "no source" assuming transducer has to be in water for these readings?

Insert eye rolls here if dumb question 😬

    TIA

No, they don't have to be in the water to turn on.
Go to settings/network and then see if they are showing on your device list.

make sure are plugged into channel 2 in the back of the unit, it is the black port beside the blue 2d transducer port. also make sure channel 2 is turned on in the menu

Device list is only for NMEA 2000 connections, Transducers are on ethernet and can be seen in Data Sources.

Assuming that you mean AI 3i1, and that the transducer is connected to the correct port (channel 2, called «structure» at the back of the unit), the transducer should be automatically recognized. Go Pages-Settings-Sonar-Installation, choose channel 2 and check that the transducer has been recognized by the unit.
