First one was a Hummingbird flasher in 82. Around 10 total. Had 3 Lowrance fail. Never had a problem with Hummingbird. Haven’t bought a ffs yet.

I hate threads like this. Somewhere around 26 including flush mount flashers, Ice fishing and multiple boats in my life.

Maybe five since 2017. Bought boat new July 2017 and didn't think much of just taking the cheap finders on the boat. Next season upgraded to Lowrance HDS units, 2 9's. A few seasons later replaced the console 9 with a Carbon 12. Last season bought a Live 12 and AT 1 setup, both still sitting in the box.

To do over, I'd either order the boat with nothing, or put what I really wanted on it.

I had to put two units on when I got my old champion in 2011. I was on a budget and put on a Lowrance Elite 4x and a Elite 5. Those were the cats meow for me back then. When I bought my ranger in 2015 it came with a hds 7 and 9. In 2018 I upgraded to two carbon 12's and a ultrex. Got a state team deal so It was relatively inexpensive after I sold the 7 and 9. My skeeter came with Helixes and I traded those in for Lowrance Lives when the Pro's came out. I got enough trade out of the helix units that the 3 lives I put on only cost me a few hundred bucks. Like many I usually can't justify the upgrades to do it unless I can about come out even with what I'm taking off.

This spring I almost bought a whole new set of garmin units and TM. Thought about making a complete swap. I was doing the math and felt I could sell my Lowrance's for close to the clearanced garmins. I think my next electronics upgrade will be the next generation of active target if/when they come out with one and a pro if it's needed to run it.
