Rubrail waves after resetting all the screws
So like the title says, I tightened all of the rub rail screws, and now the rub rail has waves in it. I’m assuming that the screws into the top cap should be run down tight What’s the trick to getting the screws right into the rail and top cap without the waves??

may have to countersink some screws.

Try a little lubricant on the screw head. You are twisting the rubber as the head tightens down.

There are cap screws and then rail screws. Depending on what type of rail your messing with would dictate the issue.
I took all mine out and used 3m5200 on them so they stay in a few years ago.

On a new boat I'm sure the rail is perfectly flat, but over time the screws work loose and erode the fiberglass so you have to tighten them into new interfaces between the screw and the hull. This can cause an irregular looking product.
Personally I don't care if it doesn't leak. Maybe you need some new sealant?
