I believe the 300R has the higher 6400 rpm rev limit, short runner intake and different intake camshaft.

According to the Merc spec charts, the Verado weighs -dry weight -600#, the 300 weighs 527#. Verado comes with it's own steering, add your own to the straight 300. Verado has more alternator output 115 vs 85.

I have 2 300 4 strokes, very impressive engines.

First engine description is really somewhat of a guess. As of this morning, there are at least 117 unique 300-Fourstroke model numbers listed (NOT counting the 300r Models).

Comparing the Standard 300 Fourstroke CMS, and the Verado V8 300hp, they are nearly identical as far as the powerhead is concerned, but the Verado has DTS control architecture and the AMS (Advanced Mid Section), shaft length, gearcase type and color choices.
