Wow! How jacked up is our government getting? We need to put them out of our business!
We pay these SOB's and they keep coming up with regs to ruin our lives, cost us money and keep themselves employed.
Yes but it all started with the inventor's greed in trying to convince his competitors to adopt. When they didn't buy in he resorted to using the Gov't. to force adoption. Lesson to all those on here saying if they don't like something and want the Gov't. to step in to manage whatever the topic is. Just leads to a whole mess of problems and additional costs across the entire spectrum of things.
Follow the money trail.
Same logic applied to paper cuts would force government to suggest we deforest the planet and use plastic paper. Its an absolute overeach. Let big tech wood manufacturers be under the regs and leave the weekend warriors alone. Do guys who fly model airplanes have to meet the same regulation standards as an airline? Another nail in the coffin of self reliance and a smear at alpha males. The big nanny state looking to put another teet into mouths that dont need teets.
Glad I already own 4 table saws.

"I am from the government and I am here to help!"
The most terrifying words in the English language.
"the liberties of the American people were dependent upon the ballot-box, the jury-box, and the cartridge-box; that without these no class of people could live and flourish in this country..."
Hang on guys. The Calvarys coming.
I didn't watch the video but I wish my saw had the sawstop technology. I do remember hearing about the regulations that may be coming a year or so ago.
When was the video made?

If you watch the entire video this does not seem to be a "government problem". This situation was created and exacerbated by competition between the saw manufacturers. Apparently there are many thousands of injuries every year from using table saws and I think it's safe to assume that the insurance companies are throwing a lot of weight behind these proposed measures to reduce accidents and liabilites. Don't forget that the insurance industry has one of the largest and most powerful lobbies in this country and they have a lot of influence on safety standards and laws.
