WiFi and Hotspot-should I leave these on when using my HDS Lives?

Is there any benefit or con to leaving this setting (under the “wireless” menu) on at all times? Does it use more power when when you leave them on?

I leave mine on all the time; suspect it does use a little more power but I do not know this for a fact, nor does it concern me.

Yeah I was thinking just like a phone, it’s probably constantly looking for a network to connect to when I’m on the water. I will probably just turn them off unless I need to update the units. I don’t think doing so would hurt performance in in way. Guess I’ll see next time I’m out!

Personally I turn it off, only to avoid the pop-up telling me the unit has connect or disconnected. I highly recommend that you do all softwareupdates using a PC and memorycard, and with that in mind there is not much reason left to have the units connected to a WIFI-network.
