    Neko Rig

What's the proper way to set the hook with this rig? Slam it, or just start reeling?

I use 10 lb braid to 10 lb fluoro, don’t slam the hook set, but a quick pop and reel when I detect a bite.

I tend to do a wrist snap hook set, but I use a 1/0 weedless straight shank hook, I don't trust the lift and reel hooksets.

I use VMC redline #1 neko hooks so they aren't huge, but I still prefer a bit of a hookset vs a pure reel set. I set my drag so it will slip when the rod is fully loaded. But its certainly not a jig / frog hookset

I use a light rod and a #1 hook on #10 test with fairly loose drag so I give it a good pop so the rod loads up

Reel in and lean into them. No different than a wacky rig

I use a #1 VMC neko hook and just load the rod and reel.

Just lift and reel. You slam it, you’re gonna miss quite a few.

Lean back and reel. Works great.

It will depend on what hook you use and how deep the bait is, I'll reel and set always but stick it hard in 15 to 30 feet then lean and reel I use cut straws not o rings almost 20 years now however not using braid works for me tho I use o rings on Senkos and Dingers
