What Motor for TR-21 Mercury 250 Pro XS or 250R

I have a 2002 TR-21 that is rated for a 250 and was wondering what 250 to go with?

The Mercury 250 Pro XS or the 250R and what is the differences other than the Torque Master and Sport Master lower units.

Any input would be Greatly Appreciated.

The extended warranty is very expensive on the R models compared to regulars if you’re into those I have heard. I would ask on the mercury four stroke board what they think Don will give you a solid advice on either choice

Nether, get a Yamaha SHO. That boat will do great with a fast motor on it. But to answer your question about the difference between the two motors, they both use the same powerhead and same output. The R has solid mounts and a sports master lower unit, the Pro XS has the Torque master lower with the dampening mounts.
