    Spot lock issue

I added a DD26 Pointer onto my Ultrex. Now my Spot Lock iw ay off. I don't know if adding that item is causing the problem or not. So, can someone tell me if anything related to the GPS system is under the round item highlighted?

It would be a big coincidense if it doesn’t have anything to do with it. Is there more involved than taping it to the head of the motor? What is the spotlock not doing?

Nothing more than peeling and sticking the Pointer on the head. When I spot lock, previously, it would lock down where I pressed the button. Now it drifts way off! I think I'm going to peel it off and cut it down so it won't cover that spot. There has to be a reason they put that circular deal there!

The GPS antenna is under that circle, but the GPS frequencies should pass though plastic if that is what the pointer is made of.

According to their site, it's made of delrin. A thermo plastic. Obviously, MY gps signal is not getting through it!

I've had the Ultrex for 4 years and the boat scale was set back then and I've never had another issue with it. Maybe it needs to be set again due to the antenna being covered? That would be great! Otherwise, I've got to pry this thing off!

I agree. They always said a GPS needs a clear view of the sky to get a good fix. Adhesive foam and a dense Delrin cover(not to mention the hub of the pointer sitting on top of the GPS) is not going to help your GPS Fix quality. You should be able to look at the quality of the fix with it on or off the motor. Bob

I spoke with the manufacturer. Wouldn't you know it. I'm the first guy with this issue!

Guess it might be their first sale! Did you try looking at the gps status yet?

Does that yellow arrow glow or the end of the pointer glow when its dark or are they battery powered light?
Makes no sense from something like that on a Minnkota that the top cap rotates and shows direction.
I added fluorescent safety tape to mine for dark and did not cover the iPilot window.

The tip of the Pointer is the only thing that glows Wayne. Bob, I haven't had the chance to look at the status. Maybe this weekend.

The site makes it sound like it is just a thin extension to give the caster a more precise line of travel for the cast. Just moves with the TM head. No other reason I can see. Bob
