F250 Diesel to 2024 Tundra Platinum

Recently made the change to the 2024 Tundra with the twin turbo 6 banger (only choice). I’ve made a 500 trip towing my Ranger Z520R and got over 12mpg. Relatively flat trip without any issues or struggles towing. Plenty of torque. My only concern is I would like to see 1” of sag removed. I am curious what other owners did to address the sag if anything. My Tundra does not have the Toyota AVS option and thinking air bags are my best option, just looking for confirmation. Shocks maybe? I’m not a car/truck guy, lol.

Add a leaf would do the trick.

Unfortunately, the 2024 Toyota Tundra has been updated to feature a multi-link rear suspension, which means the option for leaf springs on the rear end is no longer available. The factory offers an exclusive TRD 3" suspension lift and the AVS system, but the simplicity of adding a leaf to the rear end is now obsolete. On the upside, this transition to the new rear suspension design has increased the maximum towing capacity to 12,000 pounds, indicating some trade-offs with the new setup.

My old 2018 pulling a 520. It dropped the rear end maybe an inch on the SR5 TRD Offroad, 12 MPG on that 2,000 mile mostly interstate trip with the old 5.7. I did pull in 5th on the interstate and normally set the cruise between 70 and 75 and let the adaptive cruise do its thing.

The factory levelled 2015 TRD Pro dropped a few inches with my old Cougar attached. Both pulled just fine, not like a F250 oil burner of course LOL, but they pulled fine.

These days I pull my little RT188 with another 4-Runner and enjoying driving something smaller. I may look back at a Tundra next time? They have served me well that's for sure.

Yeah, adding a leaf spring is not an option. I need to net gain one inch to be the same ball height as the F250 with the Ranger hooked up. I think if I had the off road package it would be perfect, but I didn’t find one when I was buying.

Can you get a hitch insert with a 1" rise where the hitch ball is mounted?

Or try flipping 180 degrees a 1" drop insert?

I get almost 12 mpg with my 2018 TRD Sport, flat HWY 70-75 cruise or not. I thought the new turbo 6 would get better??

as for the sag, mine has always dropped when hitched but never had a problem. Why do you want/need to not sag, 1 inch is not bad

Hand calculated I actually got 12.73 mpg which is close to what I got with the 6.7 diesel (depending on wind). The hybrid batteries supply 80 more horses and kick in when there is any turbo lag or needed power. Toyota says they are designed to supply power, not increase mpg. So far in my ownership, that is what I am experiencing.

I need that inch to drop the boat with the dolly wheel inside my floor donut without any trouble. I am concerned my LED headlights will cause oncoming traffic discomfort. So far, no one has flashed their brights at me. Overall, the TTV6 hybrid tows pretty darn good, not 3/4 ton diesel good, but close. Main difference is braking.

If I didn’t have a 2500 HD Duramax that hybrid tundra or 3.0 diesel Denali would definitely be my next two choices. I seen one of those tundra up close in a shop last week, hybrid and all and it was gorgeous inside and out

Go with air bags, they are adjustable and have little to no effect on ride when not being used. As far as the mileage thing, some don't understand that is not a main consideration to a bunch of people, myself included. Cj

Or they could have just left a V8 option and let the market pick what they want.

Looks like Mother Toyota is going to screw the 4Runner up. 4 cylinder turbo. RIP 4Runner.

Another option would be to put a set of Timbren's on the Tundra. They work great and not very expensive.

So Timbren's work on the new multi-link rear suspension of the 2024 Toyota Tundra? I always thought they were only for leaf spring suspensions?

One inch of sag in the rear is nothing to worry about. Just enjoy the new truck

This is why the rear sets up a little higher unloaded so it’s level with a load….

As far as your need to adjust for dolly, a different hitch???
I have a 2018 Tundra and there is an adjustment for the lights on the dash for different loads.

Go with air bags. I have a set of Sumo Springs for my Ram 1500 to help with sag when towing a travel trailer. I take them off during the winter. Any type of spring upgrade will hurt your ride quality.

If you need the hitch of the trailer to be one inch higher, why not use a ball mount that is one inch higher? Seems to be the best solution unless I am missing something.
