    COSTCO ROTISSERIE CHICKEN

We were at Costco a few days ago. We bought the usual chicken. My wife said it was a lot smaller and cheaper. Anybody else notice this?

I had read that they are going to package them differently, but the recipe isn't going to change.

Had one this week, same size as grocery stores, cheaper. Wife makes chicken noodle soup.

I don't go to Cosco but the local Walmart and the 3 grocery stores we shop at all have rotisserie chickens and all of them have been smaller than they used to be.

Didn't the chicken industry take a hit in the last year? Maybe that has something to do with the size of them and the growth rates?

Also wasn't their another report out there about how many bad ingredients are injected into the birds used in this aspect?

Locally they are smaller. The old birds were very large and plump. The newest birds are closer to a cornish game hen.. at least at the Costco I go to. I did not notice a reduction in cost tho

Chic Fil A is the reason most all chicken is smaller than it used to. They want the breast of their birds to be able to just fill a bun. Any larger snd they would have to hand trim which equals more labor which equals more expensive. Most every other fast food followed their lead. As far as a whole chicken between 5-7 pound bird is the best tasting

Wife said this one was 4.07, as opposed to 4.99, and smaller.

Don't forget the pizza for $10. Pretty good pizza even for $30 like it costs everywhere else.

What's the price these days for a Costco chicken? We don't have one near us so I've never bought one. We often will pick one up at Food Lion and they are running $8.99 but seem good sized. The two of us get three meals from one chicken so its a pretty good deal.

Costco raises a lot of their own chickens now. They don’t source as many as they used to.

About the same size as any chain's chickens. Not the best but far from the worst.
