Dudley had a high boat number for day one. So at the end of the last practice day he set the hook on as many bedding fish as he could. He called it playing defense.

That's the problem with these types of enigmatic posts.
People make irresponsible, uneducated guesses, and the guesses can turn into false perceptions.
They could also be halfass dumbass guesses, too.
But I have even seen some fairly well-reasoned guesses turn out to be wrong.
Not sure any hand wringing on our part matters to people in the pit slinging mud.

I find that very difficult to believe. I don’t know him well, but have met him several times and he always struck me as a true class act.
FACTS
Not 100% sure but I would think most of the pro fishermen are a lot more different when they are in the boat competing than in the parking lot or at other events.
