    It’s time for naked butts

    No not that. Plain pork butts. I do them every few months. My daughter will be home next week and she is out so we’ll do some so she can take it back with her. I will smoke pork butts with only some salt on them. A couple I will cook until done and pull those. A couple I will take off early. The pulled I vacuum seal and freeze. Now you can use these for tacos burritos or anything. Just apply your seasoning when you’re reheating and that’s it. The others can be used for pork roasts with gravy and onions. Just put them in a crock pot and go. Good thing to keep in your freezer for weeknight meals

    Never done a naked butt, though I have done ribs with just salt. I did that as an experiment just to see what the base flavor was with nothing added.

    It was good, but I definitely prefer a little rub.

    For the partially cooked ones what temp do you pull it? And how long does it take to finish in a crock pot/oven?

    I don't really use a temp probe. When it just starts to soften up, still has a good grip on the blade bone. In the oven about 2 hours, crock pot it depends on how much liquid is in there with it but a good average is four hours

    Working at the meat counter at an IGA part time and I know little about cooking skills. One of the first butts I sold was to a woman customer that thankfully had a good sense of humor and played along. I asked her " so how large would you like your butt to be".

    I always smoke a couple as well and then vaccum seal into 1 or 2 pound packs. Then when we need a quick meal we make pulled pork nachos which are a favorite around this house!
