98 Johnson 200 Venom voltage question?

Does anyone know what the max voltage output is for the charging system on these motors? I was told that as long as the voltage never goes above 14.8 then I would be able to run my lithium cranking battery. If it does spike over that is it possible to change the rectifier to one that is set at a certain voltage like 14.5?

It’s is your engine. Its charging system was designed for lead acid batteries. A failed regulator can push out 15 plus volts. It normally will not spike above 14.5 plus minus a volt, even in a heavy charge requirement. I believe the alternator max is - edit 35 amp. Every thing is dependent on good connections and no wing nuts on the battery terminals.

    (sorry brain fade)
