Holy cow the videos are insane. I couldn't imagine being on that bridge when it happened! I'm surprised the entire bridge fell. Seems like a section or something should have stayed up.
They lost power, restored it, then lost power again. The smoke was from the engines going emergency astern. Going emergency astern in that situation would have compounded the starboard sheer with transverse thrust.

At the beginning of the video on the news, lights on the ship were on, went off, back on, off again, back on till impact. Not sure if this indicates some kind of power issue.

Not sure I’m buying the power loss story yet. Could be true but could also be a convenient damage control/ liability story. Way too early, will be months before they get to the true cause. Sad that there will be loss of lives right before Easter holiday.
