    920 to 721 question

I’m on the verge of pulling the trigger on a newer 721 (21 model) with a 4stroke pro xs. Would be coming out of a 14 920 with a 2 stroke pro xs.
I’m sure I’ll miss the width but fishing out of my dad’s 721 I think that’s not hard to get over. But I am worried in the engine transition with the model transition combined. I’m guessing I’ll lose speed but not sure the amount. I’ve never been in a boat with the 4 stroke to know anything about them in comparison.
Anyone make this move? Any comparisons? Any one got numbers or personal experience they can share?

I went from a 2014 920 to a 2022 721. The 721 rides better in rougher water conditions. Im not a big speed guy but I have gotten better speeds out of my 721. I don’t miss the extra width up front, to me it was not much of a huge difference. If I bought a new Phoenix tomorrow, it’d be another 721.

The width will be the big thing you notice - especially if you keep a lot of rods on the deck and/or have two people flipping or fishing current seams up front etc. Ride is going to be similar but the longer wider Phoenix hulls are the best riding and driest IMO - all are very good. Speed you should be similar.

I have a 20 721 w pro xs and have had it up to 76.5 with poles and 4 group 31 AGM's...easily runs 70+ full tourney load. I keep it pretty heavily loaded without much attention to weight distribution or I could probably get a little more out of it

I'm very biased but I like everything (save fuel efficiency) better about the new 4 strokes over opti's,,, hole shot is very strong

I don’t stand in the middle of my 721. I stand in side the troller foot and in front the rod butts. You can’t do that with a 920 and have the room the 721 does. If you fish standing in the middle of the boat, than the 920 may allow 1-2 more rods on the deck.

The 721 is a very nice boat, it was the 1st Phoenix I ever rode in. In fact after we got done fishing I knew Phoenix was going to be my next boat.

Excellent fishing platform. Never had a boat come out of the hole so quick its kind of amazing for a 21ft hull.

721 rides great in rough water, fishes fantastic, and is very maneuverable on the TM. It’s a fast hull even with the 4s. I just repowered in November and I’ve had it up to 76 around 5800-5900. Little bit of work I think I can get 78 maybe even 79
