I’ve never in my life felt like I need to go from the front deck to the back to land a fish. Never.

When you start changing the direction you are pulling the fish then that changes the angle the hook is. You can rip the fishes mouth and make the hook much easier to pop out. Every time you move the rod into a different position you are changing that hook's angle. Steve Kennedy is the worse at moving the fish back and forth like a figure 8 and he also probably loses more fish than anyone else I can remember.
I always believed it was to make the fish tired and get more treble hooks in the mouth or side.

I never do but I am not fishing for $100K or more. I do not care what others do on their boat.

I’ve had to walk around no running or dancing with a fish on.

I have danced a few times when there was some good music on shore or playing on a passing boat but under totally controlled conditions Old Hoot Knows His Limitations.

I will walk a fish to the console and get down in the seat to lip a fish if I don’t net it. It’s easier for me to lean over the boat that way than the front gunnel. Now if it’s a smaller fish and you can boat flip it that’s a different story

Of course you’re wearing the fish down. I thought that was obvious.
