They can do what they want it's their business. If the "pro" tours want to regulate it they can. They limit the horse power on the boats and they don't allow A-rigs. For me, I rarely watch an event anymore though. Too boring! That's what they should be thinking about IMO.

I'd say if they do anything it will just be to limit the amount of transducers/units you can run

Study? There isn't enough data or time to see an effect on the fishery. People say watching someone use FFS on TV is boring, but watching anyone fish with any method is boring. Fishing is only fun if you are the one fishing. Sort of like sex, who wants to watch others do it???? Having pro's with $40K to $50K of electronics and all of us "keeping up wth the Jone's" generates a lot of revenue for retailers, manufacturers, boat makers, etc... It'll be interesting to see how they see the $$ play out on this study. One thing is for sure, talking about FFS as much as we do is just as boring as watching someone else have sex!

Ever find yourself wondering who has the time to watch a live tournament from start to finish? I'm right there with you. While I catch bits and pieces, my main focus is on learning new techniques.Watching live tournaments isn't about dedicating hours on end to spectating. Instead, I see it as an opportunity to glean valuable insights and refine my skills. Whether it's observing a particular strategy, studying an opponent's moves, or discovering innovative techniques, there's always something to learn.

I'll admit, I loved watching Hackney pick apart cover with precise short casts but where did it get him? At the end of the day, there are no style points in fishing. You have to use the technique that works the best for the conditions. Sometimes.... not always, FFS is the way to go.

Since when is fishing a spectator sport? When did the opinion of the viewership start to matter? We're gonna buy fishing stuff because that's what we do as fisherman...usually too much fishing stuff, but that's beside the point.

The pro's make things look easy like mount a live scope up go out catch fish easy but I'm sure they spent a lot of time on the water on setting it up learning how to use it. I read a lot on the site were guys saying taking it off the boat throwing in the lake can't figure it out so it's not so easy to make the adjustments unless you're a rocket scientist. Just like fishing when they go st Lawrence and catch 4lb ders one after another and you can't wait to take a trip there but that turns out to be another dream and you struggle Not the pro's they make it look easy there also

They're incredibly easy to use with not many adjustments really.
The problem is people buy them and still want to fish just like they always have rather than believing that if there's no blobs on the screen they're wasting their time. Guys who power fish shallow water will never utilize it just like guys fishing topwater won't either. If guys buy one, install it, drop the trolling motor and simply troll around till they see a blob/fish and try to catch it they'd do well with it. Trust me, they're not hard to use. Breaking old habits is the hard part.

I believe their look into it is just checking height from top of tallest graph to boat floor. I believe this was measured on every boat when they dd their yearly photo shoot for the boat gallery.

That will be interesting to see how they regulate that. If they enforce a line of sight rule it would more or less eliminate a lot of the crazy setups with 22" graphs up front. That said I'm not a huge fan as it would be hard to account for seating position, like a nitro where you sit up high vs a basscat, or the heights of the angler.

I think restrictions of 48" of screen total and 1 or 2 live transducers max would eliminate some of the arms race and standardize equipment a little bit. Just by making guys go down to 2 graphs up front or 3 12's it would solve the line of sight issue as well.

If you read the editorials in the current Bassmaster magazine, you will see Bassmaster's position.

IMHO, it will not go away. Some regulation will surface.

Those fish will get pressured enough it won’t be a big player for long. It’s pretty much ruined the crappie fishing around here. Used to could limit out quick when I first got livescope in an hour or two. Nobody had it, almost felt like doing something illegal. Now they are pressured and just follow your bait. Have to work all day to try and limit out now if you’re lucky. Same will happen with the bass.

I've been struggling to break old habits especially when not fishing offshore. Found A LOT of good structure with it while power fishing though. I'm about to hook up and make a short afternoon/evening trip that will probably be a pattern of finding spots bunched up on FFS and then casting at said cluster of bunched up spots. With this bluebird sky they might be a little hard to get though.

Limit it to one & be done with it plain & simple. More like the everyday fishermen that's not trying to look like a pro uses if they have it at all.
