Oil beep question ( 2002 Mercury EFI 200hp)

I put in a new reservoir as I was chasing a leak. Found it elsewhere.
I just filled it with oil
Question , should I have just taken the cap off and waited for it to fill.

Testing today.... if I kept the nose down and ran about 3500 rpm the alarm did not go off. Any more throttle it starts beeping.
If I trimmed it up and the rpms came up (SAME THROTTLE POSITION, just trim up)
the alarm beep beep beep starts again.

Taking the cap off it is almost full but down a little

Is there anything else to look for ?

Is there a vacum valve for the pressure To get the oil up there?

or IS THERE A SECOND ALARM ON THE OIL PUMP

I'm obviously not an outboard mechanic... thanks in advance

system uses crankcase pressure to push oil from boat tank to engine tank , have faults read to determine reason for warning horn if tank is full on engine

Well. the first time I just poured oil to fill the motor reseviour
Started beeping 10 minutes into a run

I then put it on muffs and ran it in the yard until it filled on it's own.
Took a lot longer than i would have thought.Everything has been fine since..

What's the difference, sorry can't tell ya but it is happy now.

Air in the tank, running the motor with the cap off until it was full, bled the air out.
