watching a video and got me thinking, how many fish a jerkbait on spinning gear???

Does anyone fish a jerkbait on spinning gear and why or why not watching a video with Dave Mercer and another guy about using spinning gear vs baitcasting...Got me thinking

Yes especially the smaller ones, shad rap in the spring too on a spinning rod. Easier to cast with gloves on.

For some reason... I just can't do it. I try almost every year and it just never works for me. I started throwing small jerkbaits on a BFS reel.

The smaller/lighter stuff plus a weightless fluke, for sure spinning gear.

I do most of the time. When I first started throwing jerkbaits I for whatever reason used a spinning setup and I've mostly stuck with it.
I've tried to switch to casting gear but the spinning stick is easier on my hand and wrist so I just stay with what I know.

I have when I wanted 2 jerkbaits tied on and one is small. I just prefer using a baitcaster if possible

I do. It’s just easier motion for me. Hurts elbow and wrist less which is probably my main reason.

One of the few actual uses I have for bfs gear as far as fishing tourneys or for bigger fish. It’s a great way to throw an x nanahan on like 6-8lb test without spinning. I can just work the bait a bit better with a casting set up. Helps my slack keeping and cadence

I used to throw small ones on a spinning rod with a lot of success. But for some reason I can't do it anymore without getting tons of knots in my line.

I just can't do it. A lot of it has to do with the right side of my body is way more tense than my left side thanks to neurological issues. I'm Ambi dextral but it's hard to reverse how I've been using a spinning rod since I was a little kid. I have 4 identical baitcast setups for small hard baits and anything else they'll work for. I wouldn't call them BFS but they're close.

On rare occasions. I don't throw jerkbaits much for bass and usually use a bc reel. Sometimes I'll add throwing light jerks at Mille Lacs from shore at night on a spinning rod to my rotation. Also sometimes at the Grumpy Old Man Hole in the spring which is multi-species shore fishing spot.

Shallow shad raps on spinning gear. Balsa stickbaits also. Anything plastic on bait caster.
