Shimano offers 'C' series reels (Compact) that ups the spool size to the body. Example: A C3000 has a 3000 spool on a 2500 body.

While you are correct, the "C/compact" actually downsizes the gear box one model size down while keeping the spool diameter /line capacity specs.

A C3000S would be a shallow spool 3000 diameter with a 2500 gear box...and then designations for gear ratio may follow as well.
