We are hearing of some very very large largemouth in Africa. I believe the next World Record, if it is ever broken, will not be in the US.

Good question... it was certified in Tennessee. Where he caught it was so close to the TN/KY line, with 300' feet of line out, his boat might have been in TN and the bait in KY... "Trooper Island" straddles the TN/KY line, while Illwill Creek is solidly in KY... fished it many times.

The MN DNR actually did something sensible this year and re-opened the record book because the long-standing records were suspect af. The IGFA should do the same IMO.
The IGFA Largemouth Bass record is a running joke and everyone knows it. George Perry was a documented liar. With what we now know about bass biology, growth trends and genealogy, anybody that thinks a 22lb Largemouth Bass was caught in a muddy river oxbow lake in Georgia is too ignorant to debate with.

If professionals who's careers depend on catching fish use FFS then that's what I'm using. Might be too simple of a philosophy but makes sense to me.
It could be broken if Texas Parks and Wildlife moves to California. Other than that I don't know if we will ever see it.

Ranting incoherently
I have a good friend and long time client who has fished in Cuba several times. He said most of the smaller lakes hold DD bass and he has seen pictures of 20 pounders. He also says that most of the lakes are full of tilapia and have a considerable amount of netting where bass are are a saleable by-catch. The time window for a world record from there has probably passed.
