    Mercury monitor in Ranger

Posting to help a friend and not sure his exact motor. Roughly 2016ish 200 HP Proxs.

He has this orange connector in his current tach and the new merc monitor is the purple NMEA. Is his current orange connector on a compatible communication network and just needs a converter cable or does he need a new harness to go the motor? Pics of both below. Thanks for any help!

That's Smartcraft Tachometer, Mercmonitor is a different instrument. Does he have an existing Smarcraft data cable from engine to dash? If not he will need one and possibly a junction box. His best option would be to contact Rhonda to ensure he has all the correct parts to complete the install - If you want to order or price Mercury Engine Parts or Accessories

That "orange" plug is an aftermarket/proprietary system that Ranger uses. You may have to plug the old gauge back in behind the dash (sometimes necessary to keep others functioning).

As Phil stated- you have a System Tachometer pictured. Where did it come from?
