do NOT use micro guides?? With braid to flour leader (double uni knot) I really do not like micro guides. I’ll probably learn the FG knot to see if that helps, but in general I’m just not a big fan of micros.

I am in the same position. My Dobyns Extreme HP does not have a problem with Alberto knot, but my Alpha Angler does. I tie the FG at home and if I need to re-tie on the water I use the Alberto knot. Take some time to learn the FG. It is really the way to go.

We (ALX Rods) don't use micros specifically because of passing leader knots - spinning or casting. (Ironically I was one of the first 4 custom rodbuilders in the US to use micros over 15 years ago). We also take it a step further and upsize our rod tips .5mm because in testing we found that the tip was one of the most common places the leader knot hangs.

Have two ALX Enox casting rods and use the Alberto knot with no issues. I do only wrap 5 times down then 5 up. Majority of people / internet say 7 or 10 wraps in each direction
That makes sense. I have an old Legend Elite that I’ve never had a problem with using the uni to uni knot. I got a Megabass Windbuster (which feels amazing!!) but in the first two outings I’ve ended up with major “wind knot” in the braid half way up the rod on a cast. The LE is only 6’-3” that I use for skipping socks and short target casting (although it will launch a bait pretty far for its length) and I want something longer for open water.

Dobyns xtasy are a hell of a rod! Great warranty and customer service too. Heard good things about ALX as well.
Never had an issue on my NRX. Moving to a NRX+ this year (not by choice) so I hope it remains a non-issue.
Always had issues on my St. Croix Legend Tournament. Love the rod, but hate the guides. Got fed up enough that I just took it in to a custom builder to get the micro eyes removed and larger eyes installed. Can't wait to get that rod back with larger eyes.
I'd try a different knot before making the investment move to new rods. At least get that part out of the way.
