    Question for Basscat

Is there a bigger clam shell cover available for where the cables come/go in the bow for the front electronics? With all of the cables from the TM going in, and then out of the hole the clam shell cover that came stock is too small. More so with the new Quest and that cable that connects the TM to the HB unit...what was there is not going to work anymore.

There is a larger hood they made for the newer boats it may not fit exactly flat on all areas.

Can I order one? I am sure I can tweak it so that it will work if there are any issues. I have a Caracal and that are looks pretty flat.

I bought one of these. My Pantera is not exactly flat so its not a perfect fit, but its better than adding two more clamshells to the one already installed. Photo attached.

Thanks. Out of curiosity I did a search and found that DD26 also makes one that is not as wide but is deep that might be a better fit.

I got larger black hard plastic ones on Amazon and used a dremel to enlarge a crescent shape for cables.

Ordered the Bass Cat cover. I have enough flat area on my Caracal for the BC cover to work with no issues.

Why is this needed? I removed mine when adding electronics. I did add a rubber grommet to prevent the raw fiberglass from rubbing the wires/cables. Very little if any water gets in. Even if it does, it just goes down in the bilge. I have speared waves (damn wake boats) and because of the location of the hole(s) on the back side of a vertical panel, nothing got in. I do not have any hard 90 degree kinks in the cables let alone 2 with the chrome clam shells.

    It’s a cosmetic need.

Cover came Saturday, installed this afternoon. Spent more time trying to figure out what size drill was needed for the screw holes so sharing that for the future would be great. How long do you think the foam gasket is going to last? Is the cover made of aluminum, and will discolor (turn grey) or has it been coated?

Wouldn’t hurt to put a coat of marine wax on it.

I was asking because if it was not then it will oxidize and because of the finish be near impossible to clean short of bead blasting or something similar. Maybe you should think about having them powder coated or anodized in just a few basic colors.
