    battery operated chain saw.

Looking for one to use for small projects around the farm. Cut up to an 8 inch tree and or branches. I have a still farm boss with an 18 inch bar for the big stuff. I'll also use the battery operated one to free the farm boss when i get it pinched while cutting the tree.
    Thanks!

If you have any battery tools then you may be able to share the batteries if they also have a chainsaw. I use dewalt and their chainsaw is very good.

I bought the Ryobi 18V chainsaw mainly because all my battery tools are Ryobi. I did have to remove some glue from the oiler hole when I first got it, I kept pushing the button for the manual chain oiler but wasn't getting any oil. Removed the bar to see what was going on and the oil hole was full of glue. No issues since that.

Unless you want to go with a higher voltage I'd look for whatever brand you have for battery operated tools.

I have many Dewalt 20/60v tools and batteries. Get them on sale all the time.

Anyway Home Depot had a tool only sale for the Dewalt XR 12” 20v chain saw a few years back. I’ve been through a chain already and it’s still going strong. I’m happy with it. I have to cut palm froms all the time when wind storms blow them down. I’ve cut logs up to about 6” with no issues. With a 12” bar I’d assume it could handle a solid 8” cut. They also make a 16” and bigger.

Are all battery saws manual oiling or just the Ryobi?

Bought a Stihl MSA60C 12" bar this last fall. I was shocked how much of a workhorse it is. Paid $279. Long run times. Lightest weight in the Stihl battery operated line. I highly recommend it.

I like my ego 16” bar chainsaw. It is 56 volt 5 amp hour battery. I wear out before the battery does.

Me too. I also have a pole saw, string trimmer and leaf blower. Batteries are interchangable so I have plenty of power.

I can’t speak to their chainsaws, but I have one of their electric mowers and have been impressed. If I had a need for a electric chainsaw, I wouldn’t hesitate to get on from them.

I have the Dewalt 20v 12" - as long as you realistic expectations it is a good unit. Leaks a bit like all the self oilers, I just keep the oil tank empty when not in use. There were issues with the previous model iirc, but the current model is all good. I swapped in an Oregon 16" bar & chain to give it a bit more working room. For anything serious though the 034 comes out.
