    Tach

All of the sudden my rpms are way up on the gauge. I suspect the gauge is bad. WOT is usually at best 5800 rpm which a shop in Gainesville determined was reading low. He said at 3000 rpm in the shop it was about 200 rpms low and also said its probably reading 5700-5800 but actually is more like 6000- 6200 maybe more.
Now I'm seeing 6500-6700. I haven't changed anything and I don't see any speed increase.
Wondering if I can buy a digital type and have a more accurate reading.

Look at the back of the tach.

There should be an adjustment "pot" switch.

NOTE THE CURRENT POSITION <<<<------- IMPORTANT

With a small flatblade screwdriver, move the switch back and forth a couple positions without exceeding the maximum travel of switch.

RETURN to the ORIGINAL POSITION (noted above).

    See if the problem continues.

And a digital gauge from Mercury would be much more accurate.
