I had a Fortrex 45" before I upgraded to the 45" Ultrex. Unless you fish in 3-4 footers, no need for longer.

I had a 45" Ultrex on my 188 and it was perfect.
Have a good one and thank God for it!
There are benefits to a longer shaft. If you have large sonars units in front they may block your view of the head of the motor. Seing the head helps with directions.
I have a 45 ultrex and works for the lakes I fish. I don’t need longer…..others might. Choose what works best for YOU and your fishing.

I would not want to be in waves big enough to justify a longer shaft on the RT188. The 45" works fine.
My 45 works just great. I would not want to hassle with the longer shaft ..... unless maybe I fished the Great Lakes...but even then - if it is that windy, I stay home.
Also, the ultrex is the best accessory I ever bought for the boat as an upgraded feature. I love it
RT188
I LIKE boats...BUT I LOVE PLANES
Oh yeah.... I love the RT188 too.
