Damn, Back is smoked after a Tournament

I cannot believe how bad my back starts to hurt about noon on tournament day.

I might have to bring in the old pedestal seat. Getting Old sucks..what are you guys doing to save your back?

Good shoes with arch support make all the difference in the world for me. Can't be in the boat year round here, so the first few full days I fish in the spring my back will get a little sore. By the third or fourth time out I don't notice it again rest of the year.

This. Guys check out Gdefy shoes. My wife has severe foot problems and these are the only shoes that can get her through a day of work at the hospital. Hoka’s, Brooks didn’t do anything for her. I have two pairs myself

    Might try a back belt

They aren't comfortable in the heat but if it works

I use to get off the water and my back would stiffen up as soon as I relaxed but the back belt works

I use one with suspenders like you see the home depot employees wear

I was doing good today until I had to fight a big black drum. My back started hurting right after that. Definitely sucks getting old.

Core exercises for sure, but some of it is just aging.

    Getting old sucks.

If running the Trolling motor. Standing in that position can be trouble. Fish the back of the boat when you can. Lean or set against the seat.

You already have good shoes so the pedestal seat it is. Just try to lean on it. It takes a lot of stress off your back. I also will lay flat on the deck every few hours and will do some lower back stretches. That seems to help a lot

Definitely try different shoes. I used to wear Merrell hikers but after wearing them either hiking or in the boat my knees and back would be shot. I’m only 32, 210lbs and overweight. Have had knee issues since high school but those shoes took it to a whole new level, I had a hard time going up 4 steps just to get in the house after.

i stopped wearing them and now use brooks running shoes and it’s really helped

Every spring here in Wisconsin we have what they call the ‘White Bass Run’. You will see anything that float in any configuration at that event. One year there was a guy in a flat bottom Jon boat with a recliner on the front deck. I’m sure he had a big bag of cheese curds too.

I've dealt with sciatica the last few years. Have been doing some exercises to help strengthen my low back. It helps to a point. I can stand in a boat for the day and fish. Exercises helped with that much.

Arthritis in lower back, and gets me every once in a while. Definitely back exercises are the best.

    Don't fish tournaments?

Is this a lot like complaining that your head hurts when you bang it on the wall?
