    Lake Chickamunga Help

Will be coming to fish Chickamunga April 22nd - 25th and plan to fish Harrison Bay area. I have been to Chick twice and both times we put in at Dayton boat ramp and fished that area. Is there anything I should be aware of as far as hazardous and shallow areas to watch out for.

Hopefully you have a good map card. That is your best way to stay away from shallow or hazardous areas.

Just have a good map card like Slydoggie said and keep it between the buoys the rest of the time. There's a few submerged islands in the area but they're obvious on mapping and there's buoys leading out to the main river channel from the harrison bay/wolftever creek area.

Chester frost from the ramp out to the main lake is fairly deep. There's a shallow hump across from the ramp that at one time had a shallow water marker on it. Not sure if it's still there or not.

There's some stump fields near the ramp but they're in an area that looks shallow so you should be fine.
As far as buoys there's only a couple where the creek dumps into the main river. There's a long shallow point on one side of the mouth. The buoys guide you through to stay off of it.

There is a really good fish house on the lake in Dayton. I don't remember the name though... only been there once.

The water level is still usually 2-3 ft below summer pool during that time so, you will have to pay attention. But, like it was said, a good map card and you should be fine navigating Dallas Bay to the river channel.

Steve’s Landing on Soddy Creek is good. But, if you are staying close to Chester Frost, Hixson has pretty much all the regional or national chain restaurants plus some decent local ones.

By the way, you might want to make a stop at Hennessey Outdoor Electronics in Dayton. They have an incredible shop which is worth a "look-see".

I normally stay at Island Cove. You get a slip with your hotel, so you can leave your boat in the water the whole trip and there's a decent Mexican restaurant right there in front of the hotel on the water.
