    Mega Live Power Cord

I just installed a Target Lock adapter kit for my mega live. In case it matters, I bought my live transducer right when it was released. The Target Lock came with a power cord that is a little thicker than my existing mega live power cord, and with a bare ground/shield wire (which I don't remember seeing on my existing live power cord). The wires themselves seem to be the same gauge, but if the current cord has a ground/shield wire it definitely isn't connected on anything (power cord is connected to a fuse panel at the bow).

My question is, should I replace the existing mega live power cord with this new one from the target lock kit, or just use the existing? If so, do I need to connect the ground/shield wire to something? Thank you for your thoughts on this.

The original power cord has the drain wire, you just have to remove some insulation to see it. AND it should be connected as the installation instructions state==combined with the negative wire.
