I would ask if they have different grades of oil filters. And use the best. I bet O Reilly’s has an ac filter for that truck.

Yes, I have been using NAPA for several years, made by Wix last I knew. I also use NAPA brand syn. oil, which is a Valvoline product, I have almost 300,000 miles on my 99 Yukon.

Used thousands of them when I had a repair business. Usually kept a hundred or so in stock. Haven’t used any in several years now. I would expect them to be good now though.

A lot of filters will work fine with that engine. I'd stick with a NAPA Gold or Wix. Hell I even ran a cheap FRAM a lot on my LS before I knew how bad they were.

The stores do not make them and most store brand filters are made by wix or similar companies. Same thing can be said for the OEM brands.

Worrying about filter brand and construction is not all that importantly if you are changing them when you change the oil and are doing oil changes at a proper interval.

I got used to using the K & N HP filters with the 1" Welded nut on the back. It makes installing and taking it off so much simpler, just use a 1 inch socket. I wish all oil filters had this.

Yeah those are nice. However, uou are probably paying several dollars for that feature. Personally I would rather them not have it and save a buck but if some shop put them on with a breaker bar I would be glad to have that feature if I were working behind them.

Serious question, how does someone know a good filter from a bad one?

Search on Youtube for filters being cut open to see how they're made and there's even some tests done to check for flow and filtration rate. There's a reason so many people swear by Wix and the NAPA branded Wix.
