    126sv vs. uhd 93sv

I upgraded my 9in UHD 93SV to a 126SV for livescope and not sure I'm happy. It seems like the 126 is more grainy and less defined. The screen is bigger but I messed with it all day today and just seemed like I couldn't get as clear a picture as the 93sv. Anyone else notice this?

I would imagine it’s because the pixels are bigger even though it has more of them. The 106sv would probably give the sharpest/cleanest image of the 3 because it has the more pixels than the 93sv but because it shares the same pixel count as the 126 its pixels are smaller. I just upgraded my 93 to the 106 for the bow and bought a 12 for the console for my partner in the back.

Last year when cabelas/bps had their spring classic sale, I bought the 106 over the 126 because they had the same pixel count. Same pixel count over more area with the 126 results in grainier pixels. I also saved 500 bucks too which is nice.

The image is better on my 106 than my 93, but I keep the 93 as my bow finder running livescope 90% of the time.

In general, the best picture/images would typically come from the 9/10" units and the 16" units - as mentioned above, the 12" units use the same amount of pixels as the smaller 9/10" units, typically in the 1280x800 range - so the image is not quite a clear when it's "stretched" a bit for the larger 12" size. I mean, it should not be a dramatic difference, but it is there. When you get into the 16's most are 1920x1080 which is a better fit for the larger size. But some 12" units are starting to come with "HD" pixel counts, ie the Garmin 86xx series, the HB Apex 13 for instance. Of course, you can't get either of those for $1499 like the 126sv :).

I`d think its something other that pixel count per sq inch when comparing a uhd93sv and a ultra 126
The 126 has considerably more pixels than the 93 per sq inch, its not a uhd2 93sv is it ? If so then that may be it .

If you do the math per sq inch pixel counts =

    uhd93sv = 10200
    ultra 2 and ultra 126 = 15500
    ultra 2 and ultra 106=22222
    uhd2 93sv =17423

I think pics of graininess/clarity problems would help diagnose the cause. Without pics, I would question that pixel count/size are the problem. Pixels are made of little squares or rectangles. If they are too big, you will see steps in the curves as in "O" or "S". If you don't see the steps, the pixels size/count is fine.

I just got a 126 and I notice my picture is grainy. What settings can you fool with to change that. I would post a pic but i'm not to good with all that being an old guy. Thanks

Man you guys are worrying me - I just picked up 126SV to run a LVS-34, and was considering picking up a 2nd one. Don't have it powered yet so haven't been able to see the screen. I'm assuming (hoping) the grainy/less defined comments are from guys used to running higher res units? I'm coming from Lowrance Lives/Pros which have the same resoultion as the 126SV (1280x800) so didn't think there would be any issue.

Dang I guess I need to wire that sucker up real quick and look at maps or something and see if I see what you guys are seeing before buying another one...

if your changing from the same screen size and pixel count it shouldn't be a problem but the 106 does have a better picture to me. I'm hoping the bigger screen size makes up for quality of picture but as of right now I'm not sure if it will.

Yeah I just quickly connected the 126sv, could only look at maps really but it looks fine to me, bascially same as Live/Pro. I did look at the simulator at LS and it seemed fine.

I don't know if this 100% applicable, but for the HB crew the Apex's are 1920x1080 (HD) and there has been some discusssion over there on how much nicer it is if any over the standard Helix/Solix screen - and the general consenses appears to be for Down/Side Imaging/360 the HD is beneficial - for Live/FFS not as much, since the images displayed in typical FFS views are not very deatailed like you would see with the other views.

play with the settings. That cleans up a lot. There are YouTube videos that walk you through. Write em down and then apply them at a spot you know. Also water plays a role as well lots of silt etc can wreck the best units

Worth noting you said the 93 is a UHD2 93sv ,way more pixels than a UHD 93sv

Also the 1243 has the same pixels per sq in as a ultra 126

I have a uhd2 93sv and a ultra 106 on the bow , usually the 93 has ffs on it since its the most forward of the two ,
The uhd2 93sv is also nice because it weighs less than a 106 or 126 if your trying to keep the weight down
