    360 interference

First time out with my 360. Huge amount of interference when the ultrex is on, none when it's off...just I stalled this mega 360 with a g4 helix. New to birds....what'd I do wrong?

This can be a very difficult thing to troubleshoot. It could be one or more of several different possible RFI sources. Do some searching on BBC or Facebook for "Wagon Wheel". You will find a vast array of helpful discussions.

I've found the #2 setting on the noise filter helps a lot but there is still a small amount of the wagon wheel effect going on.

My MEGA 360 worked great right after I in stalled it. Helix 12 G3 on bow, 2 Helix Gen4 s on console. I had the TM and 360 cables all bundled together also. One day it went for great to horrible. I tried every filter setting from 1-6. Tried switching from MEGA frequency to low frequency. I separated the power cables to TM from MEGA cables and it started working great again. Best filter for me is 4.

My g4 helix only has 4 filter settings. Is there another setting that shows 6?

Perhaps you need to update the software. I believe it may have changed.

The Noise Reduction Setting should have 6 different settings, and it has been that way for years. It is not linear, so you need to try all of 6 to see which one works best.

A Helix has 7 settings for Noise Filter starting with Off, then 1-6. Default is 1.

I upgraded the software last night to the latest on the hummingbird site but have not checked the noise filter options.

I upgraded the software to 2.93. Are you required to restore defaults after this? Now the noise filter under the sonar tab os gone

While not stated in the update instructions, it is always best to do Restore Defaults after the update is installed.

AND when software is installed, Restore Defaults is done and User Mode is set to default Angler. If you want Noise Filter, change User Mode to Custom.

Yes if you had User Mode set to Custom before the update.
There are two levels of menus.
Angler has the least amount of settings and Custom has the most.

Angler is the default setting and what happens when Restore Defaults is done.

That's what happened. After the software change and reset it reset to angler mode. Thank you all for your help and patience. Definitely a learning curve after running lowrance products for the last 40 yrs...
