Always....something to lean against, never to sit on.

I have use one for over 50 years and especially need it now as I age. Just use it to lean against occassionaly but it is reassuring that it is there if needed.

I use a full seat when I fish long days. My knee and back hurt too much to stand or lean on a tall seat.

I just use the regular seat and leave it folded down. Hits me just right so as to keep me balanced. And sometimes when the old back gets tired I open it up and have some back support for a few minutes usually while crankbaiting.

Started last year. 61 now and truthfully, don't have the balance I once did and not in good enough shape to stand all day. I probably still stand most of the day.. but I'll lean against it when needed and probably only put weight in it a couple of hours a day.

Yes except when Crappie fishing. Then I like a regular folding seat. It has to be really calm for me to fish without something.

I fish in stump, tree filled lakes and reservoirs, A butt seat has saved me more times than 1 from taking a swim. If I am open Lake fishing where there is no underwater obstacles and I running from point to point, I will take the seat down and fish an open deck, if the wind is bad then it is back to leaning on the butt seat.

I carry mine. Only use it if I'm fishing deep and need to slow down. Drop shotting, c-rigging, t-rigging deep and cranking. Otherwise I stand.

I'm about 10-15 days fishing in my new boat. Have not used the butt seat yet. If I am fishing in rough water then I would. If I had a less stable boat, then I would. How I'm fishing I don't need great balance and I just prefer standing when possible

Being an old geezer I use it all the time. Helps me keep my balance in the boat and out of the water.

No, I'm in my early 40s and have a strong preference for the open space on the deck. Ask me again in 15-20 years. That answer might change.

I use one but I'm so clumsy that I feel like I need it. If I was going today; I'd have a regular seat. Somehow getting run over tends to make a guy want to sit down some.

Couldn't get the butt seat out of my boat fast enough, full chair for me. Too much back damage. Stand until the pain is too much, sit till it is almost gone and repeat throughout the day. Cj

I always use my leaner. It's in the way but beats going over. The medication I have to take for my psychological shortcomings makes me a little unsteady at times and the right side of my body has always been more tense than my left side so that doesn't help either.
