If I remove the carpet for replacement on my 1993 17'6" Champion mod. Contender what would I find? Is it rough fiberglass or gel coat. Compartment lids are fully carpeted. What did you do with the exposed edge of lid since decking material will not conform to edges?

The lids are aluminum and the boat will be gel coated under the carpet. You have to scrape the glue off of course. That boat will take 20oz carpet

exposed edge of the lid?????/ The carpet should rap the lid, nothing is exposed other that the back of the lid, and in most cases it should be powder coated, but that will flake off over time, or might even have foam.
