    Rod locker- shelves?

Has anyone build any kind of shelving or replacement for the stock rod butt antlers that come from the factory? I don't like the factory rod antlers and was thinking of building some sort of 2 or 3 level shelf for the rod butts to try and keep them from laying on top of each other. This is in a 2019 Z519

You could try removing the rod holders altogether and putting you rods in with sleeves. I see a lot of the pros doing it, you can store upwards of 30 rods in a locker.

That's what I currently do. I have to arrange the rods right so the ones in the tubes towards the top are supported. Just thinking of a way to support the butts of the rods. I can easily fit 20 rods in the locker of my z519 PXL_20240310_215223430.jpg

I have stared at those antler things thinking of a way to cut them into shelves…haven’t done it yet. Someone needs to do it to encourage the rest of us.

I was thinking of making a very simple 2-3 level shelf. Have it sit as far back as possible towards the passenger console so I don't have any issues with 8ft rods. I don't think they need to come out that far, just a couple of inches so the butts of the rods can sit on them. Now finding the motivation to do so is another story

Although not a 519, A friend of mine used a large cutting board and used a router to cut rectangular openings to make 3 large openings to put rod butts in making it like a shelf and ditching the stock system that’s in our lockers. I would like the same set up just haven’t done it. He bought the large cutting board from a commercial cooking shop, but I would assume Amazon has something similar.

I do not, but I'm fishing a tournament in May where I know he will be. After routed out the holes he traced the old outside bracket pieces and mounted it in the same place. I will take pics when I see it and post it up.

I use cut to fit pool noodles to support the but ends easily fit 20 some rods.
    Thanks John
    Good point
I did not think about the bow pad.Next time I am out and it mess up I'll try the functions on the bow pad. Also I'll go into the console area and make sure all connections are tight. But for clarification the start pad works as normal. The key switch is definitely on the table asap. And I'll have my dealer check out the circuit but it's hard to find leperacons and unicorns. Sounds like a brain box and pad are in order. Thanks Chris Longo
