Give it a shot! Worse can happen is it won't work and could possibly blow your engine. Best could happen is it works and you're a hero.
Hmm. Not sounding optimistic
I picked up the engine for $1000 knowing I would spend more to fully outfit it, but this little plastic piece may cost me $300. This was absent on the engine, but they must not fail very often if a cheaper solution has not been found.
That part is a check valve the Pressure regulator it restricts the flow of oil back to the oil tank. If you are going to gamble then purchase this https://www.ebay.com/itm/30502758943...Kt34l_mIfV61Y8
If it fails it builds up too much pressure and you end up with more oil delivered than is needed!

The minimal specs from Evinrude on this part is 5/16 barbed inlet and outlet with a 6psi to 20psi "operating range."
I found A UK company that may offer some solutions. I initially sourced a few samples from them through my business via a request on their website: https://www.westgroup.co.uk/Products...Relief-Valves/
Additionally, they have a build-your-own e-commerce option I found out about later: https://www.eoxshop.com
In all, I will have options with 3psi, 5psi and 10psi "cracking" options. Nitrile o-rings and stainless springs should work well in the marine environment.
I will report back on results, and will have some extra available if anyone is in need.
