    8ft rod for Deps 250

Our club rules don't allow any rods over 8ft.

I'm looking for an 8ft rod for a Deps 250. I know there's some really good 8'6" rods, but I'd like to stick with an 8ft so I could throw it if I ever wanted to.

Any suggestions? I've read some people say the Dobyns 807 didn't feel great with the Deps 250 and the taper was better for single hook baits.

I'm not sure of your budget...if I were looking for a rod for baits like the Deps 250, the Leviathan Omega 8'0" XH mod-fast would be high on my list.

    Good luck.

LDC White Label in XH would be my recommendation.I have the 7’9” Mh and love it for baits up to 3oz.

I don't have any experience with either, rather just my research for a large open trebles moving bait rod the last couple of years. Low Down offers more personalized customization and they used to build on "proprietary" Phenix hybrid blanks, which are excellent.

FWIW, you may want to peruse some of the hardcore Swimbait forums to try and glean more info. Another advantage with Low Down is that you will likely be able to pick the brain of the owner, although that my be true with contacting Leviathan as well.

Let us know what you end up choosing.

The Deps 250 is a 6+ oz bait so the XH is a solid recommendation.

Not sure if your familiar with SU (Swimbait Underground). There is a guy on there selling a LDC Workshop 8' XH for $300 shipped which is a pretty fair price.

Daiwa Tatula Elite 8ft Ish Monroe swimbait rod is nice with the 250. LDC/F5/Leviathan are great rods as well.

I haven't used that rod, but it's only rated for 1.5oz. Seems like it would be very underpowered.

The 8' swim bait rod Ish designed is rated up to "max 12 oz", the punch/flip rod is rated to 1.5 oz. I haven't fished it, but I'd bet that 6 oz bait will be well within its capabilities.
