    Reel Repair/Service

I'm looking for someone to repair my Shimano reels. My local guy has gotten a little older and he says he's given reel repairs up. I believe I've seen a couple of places on BBC that repairs reels.

Any information will be greatly appreciated!

If you're interested there are plenty of video's on how to do general maintenance on the reels, it's really not that hard.

Reel repair and maintenance is not terribly difficult. It can be a little frustrating the first time you break one down. But everything does go back together. Been doing my own for at least 20 years. Besides bearings and the occasional handle the only thing I’ve had to replace is the clutch bearing/anti reverse bearing on a couple of reels. I have a combination of Shimanos and Lews.

Defiantly! I pull down all mine (20+) every winter and grease and oil everything. helps pass the time and your that much more familiar with your equipment don’t take much more than good screwdrivers and a 10mm. Little parts but mostly all Reels follow the same basics.

Reel repair is nothing more than parts replacement. If you can tear it down, you can fix it.

    Appreciate the recommendations.

I agree with the notion that cleaning and repairing reels are pretty easy once you break them down. Only problem is that I only have one functional arm. I would get highly frustrated trying to replace the anti reverse clutch with one arm.
    It's a shame to get old :)

The Tackle Trap does Daiwa Executive Service and Warranty work these days, not general repairs. We still offer a lot of Daiwa parts, some Shimano parts, Hedgehog Studio bearing, tools, etc. however.

This is me. If you know how the parts are to interact with each other it is trivial. If you are just trying to put it back like you took it apart it is much harder in my expeience.

AND, several of my reels require special pullers to remove bearings
