    A Rig Line

I used to throw my A rigs on 65 lb braid but the last year or so I have been using 20lb FC. I've often wondered if 20 or 25lb Big game wouldn't be just as good or maybe better. If I'm throwing the A rig I'm usually using 5 1/8 ounce heads with 3.3 to 3.8 inch baits. Not trying to reinvent the wheel but I can't remember the last time I broke a fish off on Big Game.

I usually have it on a flipping stick if I'm fishing around a lot of hard cover that I think is too thick for FC.I buy a spool every year to fish one lake that has a lot of bushy trees that usually has a really good flipping bite.

I've never had an issue throwing an a-rig on #20 Big Game. When I was researching lines for a-rigs, it was one of the lines mentioned most often.

These days I use 20# clear CXX but I'd have no problem using 20# BG again.

25 lb Sniper for me the times I've thrown them. I absolutely smashed them on Baccarac throwing a 5 wire Hog Farmer with 3 1/8 and 2 1/4 oz heads a couple weeks back with the 25 lb Sniper. Had multiple doubles and one triple, and the doubles usually had a big in the mix. I think had 3 over 8 on it along with at least 4 more over 7 and no idea how many 5-6 lbers and smaller. Was throwing it on my swimbait rod, and it performed exceptionally well.

Where I throw them if you don’t have at least 50# braid it can cost you a lot of baits in a day’s time.

CXX in 17lb would be my recommendation

I use 20lb Gamma Edge Fluorocarbon for my A Rigs. Gamma is good stuff. No issues whatsoever.

I have no problem at all with using 20 lb. Big Game and putting the change in my pocket.

I use 20# fluoro because my a-rig rod does more than just a-rigs. I prefer the fluoro across different baits.

I haven’t seen much difference in results from 20 lb mono to 20 lb Flouro. Fished with a friend that definitely got more bites with braid to a leader. Think it was staying deeper

The two rods I use have 20# Sniper and 40# Suffix 832. neither have given me a problem.
