    Read your new insurance policy

If you live on the coast or up to say 150 miles inland. My policy renewal came in the mail and while flipping thru the pages I saw the Named Storm Deductible clause, which says if the boat is harmed in a Named Storm the deductible doubles or goes to 5% of the claim, whichever is greater. I called them and asked if they are doing this for tornado or earthquake areas and they said no. They also said it applies to any county under a watch or warning, which of course extends way inland. So being the quiet shy type that I am I told them to stick that policy up that very deep dark hole. While shopping I found that other companies are also doing this, but I easily found one that is not.

Boaters Insurance Agency - Danville, Ca. Got the same insurance for way less money also. Progressive is my newly fired company. BoatUS also quoted Named Storm Deductible and made the mistake of sending me a pre-paid envelope. I wrote on the paper what I thought and mailed it back to them at their expense. Remember this folks, a named storm can remain a named storm all the way thru Texas.

I ain't no insurance expert, but if it came under personal property on homeowners, it would chew up 30 grand of it. Just my thoughts. If I'm gonna pay for boat insurance, as long as I have a choice of companies, I'm not taking that crap. If Calif breaks off and all the fairies float out into the Pacific they get fully paid, but I get whacked cause of a 40 mph tropical storm? I don't think so.

I have my Progressive policy in front of me and will check it out. Deductible will be 5% of the claim, so for an insured amount and total loss claim of 40K, you would be responsible for 2K. Right?? Wrong??

Imagine that. I just found on my "declarations page" a Named Storm Deductible of $2000.
    Good work Chuck
my yearly premium for 40K coverage is $446, what you end up with from the other outfit

more importantly, would they have a 26" straight drag pipe extension with a fishtail end to fit a 1 3/4" 2 into 1 header pipe and a KW HP + baffle?

Re: Read your new insurance policy (Corkpuller)

Thanks for the advice, will have to check that. I recieved notice last week that Farmers has dropped "windstorm" from my homeowners coverage and it is now a "seperate policy". Funny how they "LOSE" money a couple of times a century and they want to drop any coverage that we may actually need...

I may be totally wrong, but I don't believe your Homeowners covers damage or loss to any of your vehicles, including boats, RV's, etc. They have to be covered by their own policy. Your homeowners will cover the stuff you have in your boat and trucks, etc. like fishing tackle if it gets stolen as personal property both at your home and wherever else you may be. I didn't carry any collision or comprehensive on my old boat, but had my agent add a marine extension of the liability to my Homeowners policy that extended the liability to the boat. It was really inexpensive.
