I recommend braid for fishing in grass. No stretch helps transmit vibration better to feel when the bait is hung up a little bit so you can pop it free.

Big single hook+ grass= braid all day every day. Even open water, braid. Don’t see a reason to set a rod down and grab a different one when the grass bed goes away. That would be a non stop rod change here. Plus braid puts my in instant direct contact for quick blade starts and pauses.

I've gone back and forth between straight 17-20 lb floro and 40lb braid to the 17-20lb floro leader. I would also say it depends on the rod that you're using
