Lake Fork Crappie Guide and A former Longview police lieutenant has been sentenced to 12 years and 11 months in federal prison for attempting to entice an 11-year-old child to engage in sexual activity using an online social messaging app, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Seth Estes Vanover, 52, of Diana also was ordered to serve a 15-year term of supervised release, register as a sex offender and forfeit four iPhone devices.
He had pleaded guilty in August.

Had two active duty local cops busted in an online sex sting operation this past Summer. They were accompanied by a third person who, coincidentally, grew up right down the road from us and was friends with one of my sons as teenagers. He had his 9 year old daughter wait in the car while he and the two (former) police officers approached the house where they thought they were meeting a 14 year old female for sex.
After 30 years of reading through inmate file summaries I’m still sickened at how depraved some people are. Pedophiles don’t have an easy time in prison. Even the other inmates don’t want to associate with them. Staff were required not to divulge information on sex offenders, but it always seemed to get out.
